Sarah Cuneo was born and raised in the Lubbock area and has devoted her career to caring for families across West Texas. After earning her Diploma of Nursing from the Covenant School of Nursing in 2015, followed by her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2016 and Master of Science in Nursing in 2019, Sarah built a strong foundation in emergency and urgent care medicine. She began her career as a registered nurse at the University Medical Center Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department before transitioning into practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Kingspark Urgent Care. Since moving to Amarillo with her husband and three children, Sarah has continued serving the community through the Northwest freestanding emergency rooms, where she has earned a reputation for her skill, compassion, and ability to care for both adults and children with confidence and warmth. She is excited to join Caprock Advanced Care, where she looks forward to providing thoughtful, patient-centered care focused on communication, holistic health, and treating every patient like family.

Dr. Mary Elhardt, MD, a Texas native, trained at the University of Houston and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and served as chief resident in Family Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center before spending over eight years practicing in freestanding emergency departments in Amarillo. She joined Caprock Advanced Care after witnessing how difficult it can be for patients in the Texas Panhandle to access timely primary care, and is passionate about improving access through a model grounded in evidence-based medicine. She believes trust is central to patient care and strives to practice with integrity, advocating for underserved communities and those facing systemic barriers to health. Outside of medicine, she enjoys skiing, astrophotography, ballroom dancing, scuba diving, reading, and has traveled extensively—including medical mission work in Haiti, Nicaragua, and El Salvador.

Dr. Shad Newson is an experienced physician and healthcare leader with a background in family medicine, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine. After earning his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine, he served as Chief Resident in Family Medicine at the Utah Healthcare Institute and later served as an Army officer with the Utah Army National Guard and the United States Army Reserves in Lubbock, Texas. Throughout his career, Dr. Newson has combined compassionate patient care with strong leadership and administrative experience in clinical operations and healthcare management, earning the respect of both colleagues and patients alike. As cofounder of Caprock Advanced Care, he is dedicated to building a transparent, patient-centered healthcare model that places medical decisions back into the hands of patients and providers while delivering high-quality, accessible care to the community.

David Pearson is a dedicated Texas physician with nearly two decades of service to patients across the Panhandle. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah and earning his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, he completed his family medicine residency in Amarillo and has since cared for patients in a wide range of settings, including rural communities, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and freestanding emergency rooms. Fluent in Spanish following two years of missionary work in South America, Dr. Pearson is known for his compassion, humility, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He joins Caprock Advanced Care with a shared vision of providing immediate, accessible, and patient-centered care free from the limitations often imposed by insurance-driven medicine. Outside of medicine, he treasures time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and enjoys camping, four-wheeling, traveling, and pursuing his passion as an aquarium hobbyist.

Ashley Rankin, NP, was born and raised in the Texas Panhandle and brings more than 22 years of diverse healthcare experience to her role, driven by a deep commitment to serving her community. Her background in both pediatric private practice and emergency medicine has given her a broad perspective on patient care, from routine needs to urgent, complex situations. Through these experiences, she has developed a strong passion for improving access to care and reducing the barriers that many patients face within traditional healthcare systems. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband and their pets, as well as traveling and gaining new perspectives that continue to shape her approach to patient care.

Dr. Matthew Turney, MD, FAAEM, began his medical career as an intensive care nurse at UC Davis Medical Center before earning his medical degree at Marquette University School of Medicine and becoming board certified in emergency medicine, with over 30 years of clinical experience across multiple states. He joined Caprock Advanced Care with a vision of delivering care in a more accessible, multifaceted model that emphasizes immediate, high-quality treatment. His professional interests include research and publications on ebullism and high-altitude BASE jumping, as well as extensive international medical mission work in regions including Nicaragua, Afghanistan, Iraq, Mexico, Haiti, Ethiopia, and Guatemala. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, along with sailing, playing guitar, and computer programming.

Kaitlyn Wynne, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, was born and raised in Clarendon, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Texas A&M University in 2010 and began her nursing career in Alaska, where she practiced for six years before returning to West Texas to complete her Master of Science in Nursing and become a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2018. Kaitlyn and her husband, Brian, are proud to call the Texas Panhandle home, where they are raising their two children. She brings extensive experience in emergency medicine, hospital nursing, and primary care, with a passion for delivering compassionate, high-quality care to patients and families across the Panhandle. Having worked alongside this trusted group of providers both as a Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner, Kaitlyn is honored to continue serving the community with a team she deeply respects and confidently trusts to provide exceptional patient care.
